Transforming Smart Devices to SMART Med-Tech Devices to Address New COVID-19 Demand

Urgent, global demand for new med-tech devices in response to COVID-19 is creating enormous opportunity for product companies to redesign or repurpose existing smart devices – originally designed/marketed in industrial, safety, fitness, and many other non-medical applications. Beyond the frontline, there are hundreds of ways existing semiconductor devices and associated products can be adapted for track and trace, social distancing, biometric and remote patient monitoring, returning employees safely to work, to name just a few.  But determining if and how to transform their existing devices for health and medical applications, both quickly and profitably, has sent many companies back to the drawing board.

This talk will showcase the common steps any company must take to repurpose existing technology products for new COVID response markets — safely, legally, …and quickly. We’ll discuss various entry points, product form factors, utilizing existing algorithms/IP, and services and showcase examples of how Altran has helped companies across diverse industries successfully repurpose existing smart products for new industries, including recent COVID-related examples.
