Measurement and Qubits-Applications from the Flip Side

TechTALKS Stage South Wednesday, July 10
2:50pm to 3:15pm

Measurement, and by extension the creation of standards for metrology, serves as the basis for a wide range of human activities, including science, commerce (via the establishment of technical means to facilitate the exchange of goods and services), and of course engineering. Sensors form an extremely large class of technology comprising devices for measuring distances, times, mass, fields, and other physical properties. Quantum-enabled sensors underpin applications as diverse as navigation, oil exploration, chemical analysis, microbiology, and climate research.  We will discuss several of these applications and the benefits unlocked by using quantum sensor technology.
