Semiconductors for Self-Driving

TechTALKS Stage North Wednesday, July 10
11:35am to 12:05pm

Waymo currently has a fleet of fully self-driving cars, without a driver at the wheel, driving on public roads. Waymo’s suite of sensors, including lidar, radar, and cameras, is custom-built entirely in-house, and they’ve spent ten years building and refining their software, using machine learning and other advanced engineering techniques and testing it through billions of miles of simulated driving and millions of miles of on-road driving experience.

In this talk, Daniel Rosenband, the Compute Lead for Waymo's Engineering Team, will share more on what it takes to safely develop Waymo's tightly-integrated hardware and software, with a focus on the challenges and opportunities around semiconductor design, integration, and packaging.
