Innovations in electronic materials are critical to the future of microelectronics
manufacturing. New device architectures and manufacturing technologies—from
FinFETs to 450 mm to 3D IC—require new and advanced materials technologies
to move ideas from the lab to the fab. At the same time, growing and emerging
electronic markets including high-brightness LEDs, MEMS, power devices, and printed
electronics are driving their own requirements for innovative materials technologies. 

SEMICON West 2012 will feature exhibits and technical sessions focused on the critical materials issues, challenges, and opportunities for semiconductors, photovoltaics, LEDs, MEMS, plastic electronics, and other related microelectronic markets. Topic areas include 450mm, vertical transistors, high-k metal gates, SOI, strained silicon, III-Vs, thermal management, and more.
