Werner Goertz is a Research Director within Gartner's Personal Technologies team, where he covers personal devices (smartphones, PCs/Ultrabooks, tablets/ultramobiles and wearables) and IoT. A special emphasis of his research lies in the Human Machine Interface (HMI) and multimodal I/O technologies: voice/speech processing and recognition, facial recognition and eye tracking, biometrics and motion/gesture control.
Mr Goertz tracks the changing role of devices as vendors migrate toward apps and service models. Security and device authentication, CPU, connectivity and storage chip technology and other components are also covered.
Recently, additional emphasis was placed on the connected home and sensor-based IoT devices and how these are architected to form a compelling consumer proposition.
