Below are descriptions of each of the twelve Sessions at the Sustainable Manufacturing Forum. Networking events are also listed. These descriptions may change.

  • 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Session 1 – Sustainable Regulatory Compliance, Part 1

Description: Experts will share the latest information regarding regulatory trends affecting high tech manufacturing industries and the supply chains that serve these industries. Regulations being addressed for Part 1 will likely focus on the European Market Surveillance Regulation, the the European Eco-Design Directive, and the proposed legislation to revise the U.S. TSCA.

Description: Experts will continue to share the latest information regarding regulatory trends affecting high tech manufacturing industries and the supply chains that serve these industries. Regulations being addressed include the Japan Environmental Regulations, China RoHS Regulation, the Taiwan REACH Regulation, and the U.S. Conflict Minerals Regulation.

Description: Experts will share information regarding compliance with regulatory and market-based pressures to procure socially-responsible and environmental sustainable materials for high tech manufacturing. The session will focus on conflict minerals from war-torn areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Description: Experts will share information regarding approaches and technologies to assess the product impact (footprint) for certain critical environmental indicators. Topics include evaluation systems to measure the footprints of products in terms of green-house gases, chemical toxicity, and energy.

Description: Experts will share information regarding assessment methods and technologies to assess the Green House Gas (GHG) footprints in the manufacturing of high tech products.

Description: The SEMICON West 2014 Sustainable Technologies Award provides recognition of exhibitors who provide equipment, materials, or services that contribute to sustainable improvement of the environment. During this Session, Award finalists will summarize their technologies and the Award winner will be announced.

  • 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: Networking 8 – Networking Lunch

  • 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM: Session 9 – Next Generation Eco Fab, Part 1

Description: Experts will share information regarding EHS hazards and approaches to control these hazards in future high tech manufacturing facilities. Specific topics may include 450mm wafer manufacturing, metal-organic / compound semiconductor use, and extreme UV photolithography.
