Photovoltaics

The U.S. photovoltaics market is expected to recover in 2010 as availability of stimulus funding, loosening of credit markets, and project financing converge. GTM Research reports that “Global Solar PV Demand to Grow by 58 Percent; $18.9B in Module Revenue in 2010.” Additionally:

  • Growing momentum for new plant construction. More plants were announced in the first half of 2009 than in the previous three years combined.
  • The build-out of U.S. PV production will also fuel sizeable growth in material requirements, including feedstocks, glass, and encapsulants, as well as in manufacturing equipment. (Source: GTM Research)

More than 100 exhibitors at SEMICON West will showcase technologies for PV manufacturing alongside offerings for the semiconductor, MEMS, LED, and related microelectronics markets. Along with hundreds of additional PV-focused exhibitors at the co-located Intersolar North America exposition, SEMICON West is one of the fastest-growing events for PV manufacturing in the United States.
